Earning a couple of high-level degrees—say, an M.D. and a Ph.D.—is tough enough. It takes a lot of years, and a lot of schooling. You have to put a great deal of work into it. And obviously, you have to be pretty intelligent just to get your foot in the door, much less exit the room with degrees in hand.

But to actually be the guy who writes the curriculum? Now that’s an entirely other level of smartness. And yes—hard work.

But that’s exactly who Sy Schlager is. He’s the guy who writes the textbooks and other materials used to educate medical professionals, to help them maintain their certification and licensure. Yes, that’s right: Sy Schlager creates the educational materials used by other medical professionals. They learn from him. That’s how accomplished he is.

And clearly, his work is peerless. Sy Schlager develops this educational content for a company called Therapeutic Window, where he happens to serve as both the president and chief medical officer. The folks at Therapeutic Window make supplies ranging from books and articles to slide presentations and audio/visual programs.

And again, Sy Schlager is not developing this content for med school students, or those with a primitive knowledge of the medical field. No, he’s actually developing this stuff for folks who are already working as medical professionals, established doctors and nurses and surgeons. The purpose, of course, is for them to continue educating themselves and stay on top of their licensure requirements—something that Sy Schlager and his company make considerably easier.

The obvious point to take away here is that Sy Schlager is a scholar without peer. He is not only an esteemed physician in his own right, but he works to educate other established doctors. His practical and academic skills alike are unimpeachable, then—but of course, he has three books and a hundred journal articles to his name, so that’s hardly surprising!

Sometimes, learning something can be easy. It can even be quick. Think of the last time you learned the words or the melody to a pop song. Did you have to put a lot of effort into it? Chances are, the answer is no; if the song was catchy enough, you probably picked it up simply by hearing it on the radio a time or two.

But not everything is so easy to learn. Take, for instance, the medical profession. Practicing medicine is not like humming a pop song. You can’t learn it without actually trying. It takes a great deal of your time, and it takes a great deal of your focus.

And that’s exactly why Sy Schlager and his company, Therapeutic Window, are so important.

Think about it—think about how difficult it is to become a doctor. Medical school takes years of intense study, and when it’s over, there are still residencies and all kinds of on-the-job training to get through. And just because you are a practicing medical professional, that doesn’t mean the learning process is over. Working doctors have to learn new things all the time, simply in order to stay on top of their certification and licensure requirements.

And just imagine how hard that is to do on top of running a practice or working in a hospital!

By Sy Schlager and his team help these doctors carve out the time they need for learning. They do it be producing materials that make the process as convenient and as engaging as possible. And indeed, as the content developer for Therapeutic Window, Sy Schlager is personally responsible for much of this material.

And that’s why the work done by Sy Schlager is such a blessing to medical professionals everywhere. Making the time to keep abreast of licensure requirements is a major challenge, but Sy Schlager and his team work tirelessly to make it just a little easier.

If you’re a doctor—at least, if you’re one of the many doctors who benefit from Sy Schlager ’s educational materials—then you probably already know plenty about the man; if not, though, here’s a quick rundown of the pertinent facts, a sort of cheat sheet concerning all matters pertaining to Sy Schlager :

For starters, Sy Schlager has a bunch of letters behind his name—both M.D. and Ph.D., to be exact. And as if those aren’t credentials enough, he’s also got three books to his name, as well as a hundred or so journal articles. That’s a mightily impressive C.V. by any standard, of course—but it’s just the tip of the iceberg as far as Sy Schlager goes.

In addition to his academic credits, Sy Schlager also runs his own company. That company is called Therapeutic Window, and since 2005 it has been the premier supplier, developer, and distributor of educational materials for medical professionals. The company’s aim is to provide these resources for established doctors and nurses to enable them to stay on top of their licensure requirements.

Sy Schlager wears many hats at Therapeutic Window. He’s the president, of course, but he’s also the chief medical officer. And on top of that, he’s the chief content developer, which means he leads the team of experts who actually put the materials together.

His areas of expertise, you ask? They’re practically too many to name, but chief among them we must surely note immunology, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDs, and oncology. But Sy Schlager has also taken part in a good many clinical trials, and his team at Therapeutic Window specializes in everything from sleeping disorders to diabetic care!

It’s no secret that we all learn in different ways. Anyone who’s been through elementary school can tell you this. Indeed, in grade school you quickly figure out what your learning style is. For some people, simply seeing something done is enough for them to grasp it. For others, it’s vital that they hear an audible explanation. And for others, it might be necessary to actually write it down, or even to experience it hands-on. We each have our own method of learning, and while there’s no one “right” way, it’s important to simply be aware of the diversity that exists here.

And if it exists in grade school, you can bet that it continues with us throughout our entire lives. Doctors are no different. Indeed, even medical professionals have ways in which they learn best. Of course they learn much of their profession through actually doing it—or at least, we hope they do!—but what about the times when they need to brush up on their facts and procedures in order to pass a licensure renewal?

That’s where Sy Schlager and his team come into play. Of course we have already said much about Sy Schlager and the Therapeutic Window team, what with all the excellent work they do providing educational materials for medical professionals. But it’s worth going into some detail about just how many different services Sy Schlager and his team actually provide. In keeping with the spirit of different learning styles, the Therapeutic Window team makes their educational materials available in the following ways:

Books

Articles

Slides

Presentations

Audio/video conferences

Newsletters

Symposium programs

… and that’s not even the full list! It is, however, a good summation of just how far-reaching the efforts of Sy Schlager and his team really are. And for patients, it is simply good to know that our doctors are able to continue learning and keeping abreast of their licensure requirements; no matter what a physician’s learning style is, Sy Schlager has something to accommodate.

Where do you go when you want to learn something new?

Maybe you go down to your local library and check out a book. More likely, though, you simply go to Google, or to a search engine of your choice. You could even access it from your phone or tablet, all without even having to leave your seat! Indeed, it’s fair to say that, in this digital age, learning is easier than ever before.

Unless, of course, you’re a medical professional—in which case, things aren’t so simple. Staying on top of licensure requirements is something every doctor has to do, and most of them dread it. It’s tough, it’s time-consuming, and you can be sure that it can’t all be done via Google.

That’s where Sy Schlager comes in. Sy Schlager and his company, Therapeutic Window, are in the business of developing educational tools to be used by medical professionals for continuing their education. But Sy Schlager and his team don’t just develop these materials—they distribute them, as well. And in some ways, that’s the most important part of what they do. After all, what good are educational materials if doctors can’t access them?

But that’s not a problem as far as Therapeutic Window is concerned. Sy Schlager and his team have positive relationships with advertisers around the country—marketing professionals who specialize in reaching doctors and nurses. They also distribute their materials through pharmaceutical and biotech companies, as well as medical device sales outfits.

In a word, Sy Schlager gets these educational materials to the people who really need them—not med school students, not aspiring doctors, but established medical professionals, folks with patients and careers and far too many demands on their time to spend precious hours searching for information. That’s what makes Therapeutic Window such an important company; it’s helping our doctors stay informed and able to treat us.

You might say that Sy Schlager knows a thing or two about medicine—and that, of course, would be the understatement of the century.

The truth of the matter is, Sy Schlager is a man whose knowledge about the medical field is not just broad, but all-encompassing. That’s because he is as much a scholar as he is a physician, a true lover of learning who is constantly craving new knowledge. And maybe that’s why he was led to start Therapeutic Window, a company that exists for the sole purpose of helping other physicians cultivate their own knowledge and enhance their education.

You can tell just from a quick look at Sy Schlager ’s resume that his knowledge extends into a lot of fields. Indeed, much of his work has been in the field of immunology and infectious diseases, and in AIDA/HIV work in particular. But just get a load of everything else he has done. For one thing, he’s conducted clinical trials of all varieties, and managed them on all levels. In terms of research and pharmaceuticals, then, his skills are about as varied as they could be. And he’s also done work in the field of oncology. Already this is shaping up to be an impressive C.V.—and we haven’t even gotten to his work with Therapeutic Window!

And this, truly, is where you get a feel for the sheer range of Sy Schlager ’s professional interests. With this company, Sy Schlager and his team develop educational materials for other medical professionals—and those materials extend into fields such as cardiovascular health, diabetes, oncology, sleep disorders, dermatology, CNS, and much, much more.

He’s not just an expert; he’s practically a one-man, walking encyclopedia of medical know-how. It’s no wonder he’s held in such high esteem by other doctors—or indeed, that other doctors look to him to help them learn.

I think it’s fair to say that entrepreneurs get a bad rap.

Just stop and think about it for a minute. What are some of the words or images that come to your mind when you think of an entrepreneur? For a lot of people, I’m sorry to say, the answer is going to be someone who is ambitious, possibly to a fault—that is to say, someone greedy. An entrepreneur, in some folks’ eyes, is basically someone who is out to advance his own, personal wealth and attain his own, personal success.

Nothing wrong with that, of course, but if that’s your only impression of business ownership, you’ve got a seriously skewed take on what it’s all about.

For evidence of just how different entrepreneurship can be, just look to Sy Schlager .

To be sure, Sy Schlager is a businessman. Actually, he’s the president of his own company, an outfit called Therapeutic Window. And that’s not the only hat Sy Schlager wears at the company. He’s also its chief medical officer. And, he’s its head content developer.

But Sy Schlager is hardly in it just to advance his own agenda. Actually, Therapeutic Window is a company that exists to provide a much-needed (and much-appreciated) service to others—in particular, to medical professionals. The bulk of what the company does is in creating educational materials that doctors can use to stay abreast of what’s going on in the field—and to stay up to speed on their own licensure and certification requirements.

You can just imagine how little time a busy medical professional has for stuff like this. That’s why it’s such a thrill to know that men like Sy Schlager are out there making it a little easier on them.

This site will explore, in further detail, some of what Sy Schlager does, and what makes him and his company so special. We’ll see what a boon this service really is to the medical community—and how fortunate we all are that Sy Schlager is doing what he’s doing.
